Crystal Super Micro-OLED Progress & Production Update
There’s a lot happening at Pimax right now and one of the most exciting developments is that our Crystal Super Micro-OLED is nearing shipment.
Both the Crystal Super Micro-OLED and Dream Air are currently on a roadshow across Europe and the US.

Development Milestones

The Dream Air is currently at the Design Validation Test (DVT) stage, an important step in finalizing its design and comfort. The Crystal Super Micro-OLED, however, is much closer to production. As an optical engine for the Crystal Super series, it now features:
  • Fully operational SLAM tracking
  • Completed ergonomics and audio systems
  • Flawless image compression

Over the past year, our engineering team has tested multiple variations of the Micro-OLED optical engine, refining its design and performance. The factory is now conducting test runs of production batches, and next week, an external beta test involving users across ten countries will begin.

Fine-Tuning the Crystal Super Micro-OLED Experience

During the past few months, we’ve made several subtle but important tweaks to ensure the best possible experience for users.

  1. Optics and Eye Relief
Earlier prototypes had lenses positioned slightly farther from the user’s eye, similar to the Dream Air, which allowed room for glasses. However, we’ve now adjusted the lenses to sit closer to the eye, improving the field of view, especially for users with deeper eye sockets.
For users who need vision correction, we will offer magnetically attachable prescription lens inserts. This change also allows us to use a shared distortion profile between the Dream Air and the Crystal Super Micro-OLED, maintaining consistency in visual quality and calibration.

  1. Refined IPD Adjustment
Our internal tests showed that the Micro-OLED optical engine performs best with a customized IPD motor. Though the term “motor” sounds large, this redesigned mechanism weighs only a few grams and ensures ultra-smooth and precise IPD adjustments, even after extensive use.
  1. Eye-Tracking Integration
We’ve slightly reduced the size of the lens cover that houses the infrared lights for eye-tracking. This modification gives users a little extra space to move closer to the lenses, without affecting the tracking performance.
  1. Weight Optimization
Thanks to injection-molded parts replacing early 3D-printed components and further design fine-tuning, the Crystal Super Micro-OLED has shed even more weight from previous prototypes. Combined with its hard backstrap, the result is a headset that’s exceptionally light and comfortable, even during long sessions.
With these refinements, we’re thrilled with the performance, comfort, and stability of the Crystal Super Micro-OLED.
