Pimax Crystal Super DCS special version: Crystal Super QLED + F/A-18C (DCS module)

Stunning! Previously using a Vive Pro 2, the "Super" lives up to it's name. Flying in DCS, I am able to read switch label in the cockpit anywhere just by moving my eyes, right to the edge of my FOV. WOW!!!

Best of breed. Within the first hour I was planning on returning this 57ppd super. There was significant barrel distortion that IPD adjustments couldn’t fix. AMD 7950x and 7900 XTX. 96gb memory. Ultimately, I had to turn off all of AMD’s GPU settings and the distortion went away. Use the tools in Pimax play and this becomes a very satisfying headset. Quadviews works great. I use this primarily for DCS and the field of view is just fine. Great clarity—legible MPDs and gauges. I had no idea there were so many details in these cockpits. Steady 72fps on most MP servers in fixed wing aircraft, working on getting the same stability in bigger servers with rotory. Pretty comfortable, but I’m still tinkering with the added top strap as it becomes uncomfortable after an hour or two—not needed but a bonus for balancing a larger headset out front.

C'est mon 4ème casque VR et c'est de loin le meilleur. Je l'utilise pour faire de la simulation de vol avec DCS, IL*2, Flight 2024 principalement. Par rapport à mon dernier casque le Q3, qui est très bien, le Pimax Super 57ppd est bien au dessus. Je cherchais un rendu visuel sans grille et net en regardant de prés ou de loin et je l'ai trouvé avec ce casque. C'est incroyable !

Impressive ++ Quick and easy setup. Firmware and Pimax Play update went without a hitch. Big step up from HP Reverb all around. It took me a bit to get the fit just right for me. DCS and BMS never looked better. Thanks to Jennifer for all the purchase help.

Better than expected. I’ve been in flight simulation professionally back in the 90’s and was an aviation enthusiast all the way back to the 1960’s. Yup, I’m an old flightsim nerd that has seen and done it all. The Super Ultra-wide is where I decided to spend my money. I was an early purchase of the Super all the way back in November 2024. NOT HAPPY about waiting until October of this year to actually receive my Pimax Super UW. That was so frustrating and I lost hope and gave up several times, but the money was spent so I had to wait. THAT is the only downside to my experience. I owned the Pimax Crystal for several years and hated the battery. It was such a buzz kill to be suddenly hit by a change battery warning when things were just getting good. NOT anymore. I’ve sat without looking at the clock for 6 hours and never felt time passing or had any fatigue in my eyes. Technology can be magic and the Super UW is now giving me experiences in flight simulation that weren’t possible professionally, let alone as a hobbyist. I’m where I never thought I could be performance wise. Testing in MSFS 2024 and DCS have proven to be exhilarating and FUN. Sometimes I just laugh out loud for joy because I had no idea this was possible. Thank you, Pimax! You did it and now I have it - smiling from ear to ear.

An excellent product and improvement to VR I have greatly enjoyed the extremely high resolution display. I have owned older Pimax products were enjoyable but the resolution, especially the ability to view the MFDs in DCS aircraft. The Pimax Crystal Super has an extraordinary clarity within the cockpit and read the displays very clearly. Fit has been comfortable.

I am an owner of a Crystal OG. The Super is a great improvement over the OG. The visuals are outstanding. It is much brighter and much more comfortable. I am able to run DCS, IL2, and War Thunder at 100% resolution with a 4090 but would recommend turning off all anti aliasing. It has little to no effect on the visual quality. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Amazing but room for improvement despite my criticisms im still giving the crystal super 5 stars, i truely appreciate what pimax are doing and where they have come from. My prior vr experience has been a reverb G2 so most of my comparisons will be related, The 50ppd qled panels and optics are remarkable, the fov and sweet spot amazing infact i dont like using sweet spot as nearly the entire field is sharp and clear polar opposite to G2. The pimax software is fantastic and the headset works flawlessly everytime i use it something that isnt true for G2 in my experience. did i mention Bright holy biscuiits i had to turn mine down and in dcs and msfs i had to reduce Gamma a lot as default is over exposed but once tuned its brilliant.despite being quite pricey i believe its great value if you want truely game changing vr experience. The headset remains cool and is really well ventilated i dont suffer sweating or fogging which was a major issue for me in G2 wearing glasses. Now for my constructive criticism. Comfort is ok just, the foam gaskets feel cheap and the rear pad is too small and becomes uncomfortable after 30 mins or so. i upgraded to studioforms kit and it greatly improved comfort the rear pad is nearly twice the size of pimax with much nicer foam and materials. the headset is front heavy and studioforms weights helped a lot but increased overall weight to annoying levels. So Pimax i would recommed really dialling in comfort it needs to be improved out of the box. the pimax play software is arguably the best in industry however out of the box it needs a lot of tweaking to dial in visuals etc thats not a problem for me but for less tech savvy people this may be an issue. The Dmas speakers are excellent and after comparing to G2 i feel they are even better and for a premium headset they absolutely should be standard equipment. The controllers are good but feel too small in my hands and the G2 controllers are much more comfortable. tracking is ok but could be better i feel g2 tracking is slightly better and i am going to consider lighthouse tracking later on. I am running a high end system 5090 9950x3d and performance is amazing. DCS im locked in at 90fps "vsync limited"" with settings nearly maxed out which i cant believe is that good. The eye tracking and dfov is a game changer for performance and woth considering if your deciding to choose between super and light models especially for lower spec pcs. The Pimax crystal super is a winner if your looking for amazing visuals in particular if your into sims be it flight or racing or to recline and watch a movie. Improvement in comfort and or materials choice would be an improvement but as it stands its definately the next gen in VR. Also to note complaints about moire and Chromatic aberation in my opinion are overstated, moire is evident but honestly you have to look for it and its not really an issue and CA is rarely seen and again you have to really look for in very high contrast areas. i am sensitive to CA and its not an issue for me. Overall Its a winner and would highly recommend if your considering one.

Pimax Crystal Super in DCS. I am very pleased with my crystal super in DCS. I can read all the aircraft instruments with clarity and my dog fighting situational awareness has improved because of it.
